The Saab 35 Draken is a Swedish fighter that everybody remembers at first sight: it has a so-called double delta wing, that is an inner section with a very sharp sweep and an outer section with a gentler one. That solution gave the airframe a strong and roomy structure with a large fuel load and at the same time an unmistakable silhouette. Besides the Swedish Air Force the Draken also served with other operators; the letters ÖE in the designation refer to the Austrian guise. The machine is a popular subject precisely for its shape, which looks fierce in any scale.
Photo-etched parts in thin metal sheet for a model of the Draken in the Austrian guise, 1:72 scale. In a small scale the gain from etched parts shows best: plastic runs into its limits here on everything that is meant to be thin, whether that means belt buckles, placards, grilles or small plates with relief. The parts are held on the carrier sheet by tabs they are cut out of. The extent of the set, the placement of the parts and the kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Get ready a pair of fine-tipped tweezers, a sharp blade, a hard surface and good light, ideally a magnifier as well. Cut the parts off, do not snap them out. Make the folds over a bending tool or the edge of a steel ruler. They are glued with cyanoacrylate laid on in tiny drops, so that the relief is not drowned. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and lay a primer over it.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
