A set of masking templates in 1:72 scale for the Japanese fighter Mitsubishi J2M5 Raiden.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden is a Japanese single-engine fighter of the Second World War, built with a radial engine and with a bulky fuselage around it. Unlike the slender carrier fighters, it was built above all for a fast climb to altitude and for attacking bomber formations, which left its mark on its shapes. The designation J2M5 belongs to one of the later versions.
Masking templates define the area that is to stay unsprayed, so that the frames of the glazing, the transitions of a camouflage or the national insignia can be done crisply and without touching up by hand. The set is cut for 1:72 scale and for the shape of a particular kit; on another kit of the same aircraft it will therefore fit only roughly. What exactly the set covers and which kit it is cut for is stated in the manufacturer's description and instructions, so check that before buying.
The templates are applied to a clean, dry and degreased surface, and before spraying rather than after it. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a blunt stick, because paint creeps in exactly where the template has not seated. Spray in several light coats; a heavy application builds up at the edge and leaves a step when the mask is removed. Lift the template off soon after the spraying is finished, while the coat is still fresh, and peel it at an angle across the edge; raise the edge with the tip of a knife or with tweezers so as not to scratch the finish.
The delivery holds the masking templates only. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
