An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer UM, that is, Unimodel. The subject is the variant of the light Jagdpanzer 38(t) tank destroyer armed with a longer 7.5 cm gun with a barrel 70 calibers long. It differs from the commonly built production version above all in the markedly longer barrel, which changes the whole silhouette of the vehicle.
The Jagdpanzer 38(t) was a light tank destroyer built on a chassis derived from the Czechoslovak LT vz. 38 light tank and produced in Czechoslovakia under the German occupation. The construction was low, with armor plates at large angles and with the weapon built into the front plate, that is, with no rotating turret. The production version carried a 7.5 cm gun with a barrel 48 calibers long. The installation of the longer and more powerful L/70 weapon, known from heavier tank destroyers, was also examined, however. A longer barrel raised penetration, but at the same time loaded the front of the vehicle and worsened its balance, which was a substantial problem with such a light chassis.
Finish the running gear and the interior details before you close the hull up. Glue the long barrel only at the end and support it while painting, as it is the most exposed part of the model. Apply a thin cement into the seam with a fine brush, so that it does not clog fine detail. Spray the model with primer, apply the base with an airbrush and only then deal with the camouflage. The sloped surfaces of the hull are rewarding for modulating the shade and for a dark wash, which will accent the welds and the rivets. Finally add dust and mud with pigments, setting the upper surfaces off from the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
