A plastic kit of the Bushmaster protected wheeled vehicle in the markings of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, in 1:72 scale from Dragon. It is a classic kit to be glued and painted. The same vehicle is also released as a finished, assembled and painted model, so you can choose whether you want to build or to put it straight on the shelf.
The Bushmaster is a wheeled vehicle in a 4x4 layout from the category of machines with increased resistance to mines and improvised charges. The shaped floor of the hull deflects the blast wave away from the crew, the large ground clearance increases the distance from the point of the explosion and the armored compartment at the rear serves to carry a detachment. The vehicle is conceived as a protected carrier with a long range for patrol work, moving personnel and escorting convoys. The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force took it into its wheeled fleet; a number of other users operate the type as well.
On a vehicle with a tall hull the large flat surfaces are what counts. Fill and sand the parting lines on the sides and on the roof carefully, as they would otherwise show after spraying. Assemble and paint the chassis and the wheels before you close up the hull, because access to them is poor once it is glued. Mask the glazing before painting. Lay the base shade down with an airbrush in thin coats over a primer, and apply the decals onto a gloss base. A patina pays off on a vehicle of this kind: a dust deposit on the lower part of the hull and on the wheels and a fine wash into the engraved lines give the model scale depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
