This is a 3D decal in 1:72 scale from Quinta Studio. It is neither photo-etch nor resin but raised color detail printed on a flexible film that is applied as a wet decal. The elements have no adhesive layer of their own. The set faithfully renders the K-36DM ejection seat of the second series in the early form used up to 2007. The contents are enough for one seat.
The K-36DM is the legendary Soviet and Russian zero-zero class ejection seat from the Zvezda design bureau, fitted in a whole range of combat aircraft. The second-series version with its set of straps, handles and firing controls was used in the early configuration on the MiG-29, MiG-31, Su-27 and Su-33 machines up to roughly 2007. The decal reproduces the color upholstery, the straps and the fine lettering that are otherwise hard to reach at this scale.
Cut the parts out of the film carefully, degrease the surface and transfer the decal onto the seat. 3D decals fit a shape well; to make them seat into the detail, gentle pressure with a cotton bud helps, and a gloss clear coat under the element improves adhesion. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution: they would attack the printed resin. At the end the whole can be gone over with a matte clear coat to even it out.
