1:72 Ka-50 BASIC kabuki masks

Kamov Ka-50 - Basic kabuki masks 1:72 (New Ware)

This is NOT a model but a set of self-adhesive masking masks from New Ware for a plastic kit of the Russian attack helicopter Kamov Ka-50 in 1:72 scale. The masks are cut from Japanese washi (kabuki) masking paper and leave a sharp boundary of color. The Basic version is the basic set: masks for the outer frames of the cockpit glazing, the other clear parts and the wheel hubs.

The real subject

The Ka-50 (Hokum in the NATO reporting system), nicknamed the Black Shark, is a Russian single-seat attack helicopter with a characteristic pair of contra-rotating coaxial rotors and no tail rotor. It is fitted with an armored cockpit and an ejection seat for the pilot, which is a rarity among helicopters. The coaxial rotor layout gives it high agility and rate of climb.

Use

• Application to the outer frames of the glazing before spraying
• Masking of the wheel hubs according to the enclosed instructions
• Sharp boundaries of color with nothing seeping under the mask
• The paper yields readily to the shape and lifts off easily once the paint is dry

Who it is for

For modelers building the Kamov Ka-50 in 1:72 scale who want to spray the cockpit frames and the wheels quickly and cleanly. The basic Basic version is suitable for less experienced builders as well.

A supplementary set of masks, not a model on its own. The kit and the paints are not included in the package.
