A figure of a kangaroo with a pilot's helmet in 1:72 scale from the brand Reskit. It is neither an aircraft model nor a kit but a standalone figure belonging to the group of aviation mascots. Reskit lists it in the same range as its pilot and ground crew figures, so it fits exactly where you are building an airfield scene and looking for an element with a wink in it.
Place the mascot beside an aircraft on its stand, at the edge of the apron, next to the ground crew or on a display base beside a finished model. It also works on its own as a small piece on a shelf. Because this scale is used mostly for aircraft, the figure will find a place in dioramas with both modern and older machines, and at the same time as a witty comment on a collection.
Rinse and degrease the figure before painting, cut the casting remnants away with a sharp knife or a file and clean up the surface, working with tweezers on the very small parts. Do the gluing with drops of cyanoacrylate glue. Lay on a thin coat of primer so that the detail is kept. Paint the fur starting from a darker brown base and put the lighter shade on the back, the head and the thighs with a dry-brush. The helmet, by contrast, should stay smooth and glossier so that it parts from the fur; the contrast between matte fur and a glossy helmet is what sells the figure. Bring out the eyes and the nose dark, and finish by evening the surface out with a varnish of the sheen you want.
