A masking set for spraying the national insignia and unit markings on a Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia Sally model in 1:72 scale, the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi Ki-21 was a Japanese twin-engine bomber to which the Allies assigned the code name Sally. The Ki-21-Ia form is the earliest production form of this type; the letter after the Roman numeral distinguishes the individual production forms within the first series. The colored unit markings on the tail surfaces and the large national insignia are among the things one notices first on a finished model.
Masking parts for spraying the national insignia and unit markings on the Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia kit in 1:72 scale from ICM. The markings are not applied as decals but laid on with paint through a mask, directly onto the surface of the model.
Apply the mask to a dry base coat, not to fresh paint. Press the edges down thoroughly, so that paint cannot creep under them, and spray in several thin coats. Lift it off shortly after the paint has set. A sprayed insignia has no carrier membrane and no glossy edge, so it does not stand out on a matte finish.
The set is for modelers who prefer sprayed markings to a decal. The position of an insignia cannot be corrected once the mask has been applied, so it pays to plan the placement in advance. Work with an airbrush is necessary for it; laying an even area on through a mask with a brush is difficult.
The package contains the masking parts only. The kit and the paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
