Montex 1:72 Ki-87 - die-cut self-adhesive masks for precise framing of the canopy and a clean spray finish on the wheels of this Japanese high-altitude fighter prototype in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Montex brand for a model of the Japanese high-altitude fighter Nakajima Ki-87 in 1:72 scale. The masks take care of the most delicate part of the painting - framing the canopy and a clean spray finish on the wheels of the undercarriage. Instead of the lengthy cutting of strips of tape, you simply transfer the finished templates to the model and spray. The set is prepared to fit a particular kit, so check compatibility with another one beforehand.
The Nakajima Ki-87 was a Japanese experimental high-altitude fighter from the very close of the Second World War, developed as a means against bombers operating at great heights. Its massive airframe was powered by a radial engine complemented by a turbocharger placed on the side of the fuselage - an unusual solution by Japanese standards. A single prototype was built by the end of the war, first flown at the beginning of 1945. For modelers it is an attractive subject from the category of prototypes and seldom seen machines, which always draws attention on a display table.
Degrease the surface before sticking the masks on and make sure the previous layers of paint are cured. Transfer the masks with tweezers and burnish the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a small spatula. Apply the paint in several light layers at right angles to the edge of the mask - you will limit the paint running underneath. Once the spraying is done, take the masks off carefully while the paint is not yet fully cured.
This is a masking accessory - the kit of the aircraft is not included in the package.
