An injection-molded plastic model of the German heavy tank King Tiger (Sd.Kfz.182) in the configuration with the early turret (often called the Porsche turret) and with a layer of anti-magnetic Zimmerit paste, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. For the exact contents of the box go by the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The King Tiger (Tiger II) was the heaviest German tank put into series service in the Second World War. It carried the 88 mm KwK 43 gun with a long L/71 barrel and heavily sloped frontal armor. The early production turret had a rounded front plate and a bulged mantlet; later it was replaced by a turret with a flat front. Zimmerit is an anti-magnetic paste, worked into ridges, that was meant to stop magnetic charges from sticking. The tank weighed around 70 tons and its mobility was limited by an overtaxed powertrain.
With armored vehicles, finish the running gear first and close the hull only afterwards. Bring out the texture of the Zimmerit with a wash into the engraved lines. Spray the base over primer and apply the colors with an airbrush; fine-tune the weathering with pigments for dust and mud effects on the tracks and the belly of the hull, and with a dry brush on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
