Responsibility details are not available.
A figure set of soft plastic in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Strelets-R, aimed at British cavalry in the late period of the First World War. The set belongs among the accessories for dioramas; it is not a kit of hardware. The figures are supplied unglued and unpainted.
British cavalry entered the war as a full component of the army, but the trench front quickly took its room away. In the later years it was used mainly where mobility could be exploited: for reconnaissance, movement and escort. The appearance meanwhile changed markedly. The pronounced peacetime colors disappeared and uniform khaki replaced them, the rider was given a steel helmet and the equipment was simplified to what he really needed. The late variant is therefore more easily set by a modeler into scenes with hardware.
A khaki uniform is treacherous in that it looks flat in a large scale. Brighten the base tone a little straight away, therefore, because in 1:72 scale the color darkens optically. Once dry, let a thinned dark brown wash into the folds and accent the edges with a dry brush in a lighter variant of the base shade. Only then come the dust and the mud: apply very thinned ocher or gray-brown paint to the lower part of the legs, to the hooves and to the bottom of the harness, always from the bottom up and faintly. Excessive weathering kills a figure faster than its absence. Add the metal parts in spots. Soft plastic is glued only by cyanoacrylate and without a flexible primer the paint will crack on the bends.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
