The Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II is an American single-seat single-engine fifth-generation combat aircraft adapted for service on aircraft carriers. It is told apart from the other versions of the family by its larger wing with folding tips, its strengthened undercarriage and the arrestor hook for landing on deck. The larger wing settles the aircraft during a slow approach to the ship and leaves room for more fuel in the wing. The angular shape of the airframe and the armament housed inside the fuselage follow from the requirement for low observability.
The sheet is prepared for a model of the F-35C in 1:72 scale. In this scale the lettering, warning markings and small colored areas are so small that they cannot be painted by hand, and a decal is the only way to get them onto the surface legibly. What exactly the sheet carries and which parts the individual elements belong to is shown in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them when placing the elements too.
Level the surface under the element and rid it of dust and grease, so that the part seats over its whole area. The sheet is not immersed in water: with a damp sponge and a drop of dish soap, wet only the backing paper under the part, lift the element off with tweezers and transfer it to its place. It is seated with PVA glue (white glue); the maker does not recommend super glue, and decal softener does not belong here, because it attacks the printed layer. Leave the finished area to dry undisturbed and only then coat it over with clear if need be.
For modelers who are building the F-35C in 1:72 scale and want the markings and lettering legible even on a small model. The kit, paints, clear coat and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
