This is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory: a complete set of resin wheels for the American eight-wheeled M1296 Stryker Dragoon armored vehicle in 1:72 scale. The wheels replace the parts supplied in the box and raise the detail of the running gear, which on wheeled vehicles is what shows most.
The resin casting carries a deeper and more regular tread pattern, a sharp transition from the sidewall of the tire into the hub and a readable rim lip. The main gain, though, lies elsewhere: the wheel has no parting line running across the contact patch, that is across the place where it is most noticeable on a finished model. Sets of this line are cast with the sag of the tire under the weight of the vehicle suggested, so once fitted the model sits on its base instead of hovering above it.
The M1296 Stryker Dragoon is an armed version of the infantry carrier. On the Stryker body it carries a remotely operated turret with a 30 mm autocannon, which the US Army was introducing with units stationed in Europe to give them firepower against armored targets. The chassis stays the same as on the base M1126 - eight driven wheels with hefty off-road tires - so the running gear is precisely the detail that ties a model to the real thing.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a little detergent, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Separate the gate with a sharp cut in a place that will be hidden once fitted. Spray the tire a dark gray rather than pure black and add a fine dust pigment near the contact patch; the hub can then be set apart by masking.
