An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M2A3 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Dragon, in the form with an interior. Internal fitting out of the hull is above the usual standard in such a small scale — it opens the way to a model with the rear or the hatches open, or to a diorama where you can see inside.
The Bradley is an American infantry fighting vehicle that joins the carrying of a dismount squad with fire support. The M2A3 version is the digitalized standard with modernized optics and electronics: the commander received an independent thermal imaging device, so he can search for targets independently of the gunner. The main armament consists of a 25 mm automatic cannon, completed by a launcher for anti-tank guided missiles and a coaxial machine gun. At the rear of the hull there is room for the carried infantry, who get out by a folding ramp; it is precisely this space, together with the crew's fighting compartment, that tends to be the subject of detailed work on models with an interior. The division of the inside into a crew space and a dismount space is decisive for the design of the vehicle.
With a model with an interior the order of the work is fundamental. The inside of the hull has to be finished, painted and given its patina before the hull is closed up — after that it is no longer accessible. It works well to paint the inner surfaces in a light shade, bring the details out with a dark wash and only then glue the fittings in. If the interior is to be visible, it is good to think out in advance which hatches and which ramp will stay open, and to adapt the order of gluing to that. The exterior parts: finish the running gear and the tracks before closing up and fitting the fenders. Deal with gluing using a thin cement for plastic, lay a primer on before painting and use an airbrush on large areas. Gloss varnish will help under the decals, and a final matte varnish will even the surface out. Build the patina up gradually from a wash to dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
