At 1:72 it is a small object, but one that gives a scene its sense of scale and credibility. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
MA-1A is the designation of a mobile starter trolley of the US Air Force. The unit is driven by a gas turbine and delivers compressed air, which spins the aircraft's jet engine up during starting. On older combat aircraft the engine could not be started without a source like this, so the trolley was basic equipment on the flight line. The trolleys were moved between parked aircraft and connected to the aircraft by a large-diameter hose. In service they quickly became worn and dirty, which is something a model can put to good use.
Wash the resin parts in soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and finish the surfaces wet, with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), because cement for plastic will not work here. Lay down a primer before painting. In 1:72 scale the key is not to drown the detail in too thick a coat, so spray thin layers instead. Keep the weathering in check, but the edges, the wheels and the area around the unit can take a noticeable amount of grime. You can add the hose to the aircraft from thin insulated wire.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
