A decal sheet in 1:72 scale carrying the markings of the two-seat version of the Il-2 ground-attack aircraft, designated M3. According to the name this is the first part of a multi-part range, and the individual parts differ in content. The set is an accessory for a built model and contains no plastic parts.
The Il-2 was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft in which the forward part of the fuselage with the engine, the radiators and the cockpit was designed as an armored shell. Originally a single-seater, the machine later received a second station for a gunner with a rear flexible weapon, which created the two-seat variant this sheet is intended for. The landing gear retracted into fairings under the wing, and the armament was carried under the wing as well.
Paint the model and coat it with gloss varnish. Soak the decal in lukewarm water, let it release from the backing paper and slide it into place. Draw the water off, use a softener across engraved lines and panel seams and let it dry thoroughly. A final matte varnish unifies the surface and makes the edges of the carrier film invisible. In 1:72 scale work with sharp scissors and tweezers, because the designs are small.
The package contains decals; it is not a kit. The model, paints, varnishes and glue are not part of it.
