The New Ware 1:72 Mask B-57B/B-57G Nighthawk BASIC is a cut self-adhesive mask in the basic scope, intended mainly for the cockpit glazing. The BASIC level means a smaller set for quick and clean masking.
Responsibility details are not available.
Cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer New Ware for building a bomber of the B-57 line in 1:72 scale. The BASIC designation describes the scope of the set: it is the basic variant, which covers the most important and most demanding part, that is above all the glazing. The wider levels of the same set (ADVANCED and EXPERT) offer broader coverage of further areas and small details. If you just want to deal with the cockpit quickly and cleanly, BASIC is the variant that does it; anyone masking further areas will reach for a higher level.
The B-57 was the American version of the British Canberra jet bomber, built under license. The B-57B variant received a tandem cockpit under an elongated canopy and a rotary bomb bay door. The later B-57G was adapted for night operations and carried a suite of sensors in the nose. Both variants have the distinctive slender wing of large span, which makes the machine look very elegant even in a small scale.
The frames of the glazing in 1:72 scale are very narrow and trimming them out of adhesive tape by hand costs a great deal of time and patience. A cut mask saves the work and makes sure the frames are the same width along their whole length. The paint also lies directly on the plastic, so the risk of silvering and the glossy border of a decal both disappear.
The set is tailored to one specific Italeri kit. It is not a model or a kit, and paints are not included in the package.
