1:72 Mask E.E.Lightning F.2A/F.6 BASIC (AIRFIX)

New Ware 1:72 mask set — English Electric Lightning F.2A and F.6, the BASIC form

Self-adhesive, machine-cut masks for the model of the British supersonic fighter Lightning in the F.2A and F.6 versions, 1:72 scale. The BASIC form is the entry step of the range and covers the basic extent of masking. It is not a kit but an accessory used when spraying paint. The set is intended for the Airfix kit.

The entry step of the range

The manufacturer runs three steps of the set for this airplane, differing in extent. The basic one is intended for anyone who wants clean cockpit glazing above all and does not need to mask further details. For an ordinary build out of the box that is usually exactly what is needed.

How to mask the glazing

• Glue the cockpit in, fill it and sand it down before you put the mask on.
• Spray the inner side of the canopy with the interior color before you close it — once the canopy is in place you cannot reach it any more.
• Press the mask down in the corners where the frames meet; it is exactly there that the paint runs under most often.
• Once the mask is off, check the edge against the light and carefully scrape any overrun away with a toothpick, not with a metal tool.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who are building the Lightning out of the box and want crisp cockpit frames.
• Those for whom the basic extent of masking is enough.
• Beginners who are only getting to know spraying through a mask.

This is an accessory for the build, not a model. The Airfix base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
