The Bf 109G-6 is the most numerously built version of the whole G series and for many modelers it is the most typical form of the German fighter of the second half of the war. It is powered by a liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 605 twelve-cylinder V engine mounted inverted, that is with the cylinders downward. The characteristic recognition feature of the version is the bulges on the engine cowling, which were made necessary by the larger breeches of the machine guns mounted above the engine. The aircraft served on every front, from western Europe through the Mediterranean to the Eastern Front.
Photo-etched parts are of thin metal sheet, so at scale they have the correct thickness, which injection-molded plastic can never achieve. Where there should be sheet, a grille or a strap on the model, a photo-etched part therefore replaces a disproportionately thick plastic part and the finished build looks finer. Which particular parts the set holds, where they belong and which kit it is cut for are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The parts are held on the carrier sheet by small tabs. Separate them with a new sharp blade on a hard surface, not with pliers, which bend the metal. Make the folds in a bender or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp and straight. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue or with a two-part glue, which gives more time to position them. Before painting, degrease the metal parts and go over them with a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will not stay on the smooth surface. Prepare small parts over a surface with raised edges; on a carpet you will not find them again.
