MiG-15 landing flaps 1:72 is a photo-etched set from the manufacturer Eduard that replaces the plastic landing flaps of a model of the MiG-15 jet fighter with thin metal parts. It is an add-on, not a kit.

This item is a photo-etched detail set from the manufacturer Eduard focused on the landing flaps. In 1:72 scale the difference between plastic and photo-etch is particularly apparent: a molded flap has a thickness that in scale corresponds to several centimeters of real structure, and it tends to be smooth underneath. Photo-etched sheet is a fraction of a millimeter thin and carries the rib structure, so lowered flaps finally look like a sheet-metal part rather than a plate out of a mold.
The MiG-15 was a single-seat subsonic fighter with a swept wing and a jet engine in the fuselage. It was among the first series-produced machines of its generation and was built in large numbers, including under license outside the Soviet Union. Lowered flaps are the typical sight of the aircraft standing on an airfield, which is why models are often built that way.
The original plastic flaps are usually cut off the model and the edges trued with a file, so that the metal part seats. Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with pliers. Shape the bends and the ribs in a photo-etch bending tool, or else over a steel rule; fine-tune small shapes with round-nose pliers. They are bonded with super glue applied with a toothpick; on larger joints a slower-setting epoxy suits. In 1:72 scale the parts are really small, so work with good lighting, a magnifier and fine tweezers. Give the metal a base coat before painting.
The set is an add-on to a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
