A turned metal pitot tube for MiG-21 PF and PFM models in 1:72 scale from MASTER. An accurate replacement for the plastic part on the nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
A metal accessory for a plastic kit, not an aircraft model. The turned pitot tube in 1:72 scale is intended for the PF and PFM versions, that is, for the machines known under the designations Fishbed D and F. At this scale the plastic part is only a few tenths of a millimeter in diameter and tends to come out of the mold slightly bent; the metal replacement is straight, true and does not flex.
The MiG-21 is a single-engine supersonic combat aircraft with a delta wing and a nose air intake with a movable shock cone. The PF and PFM versions are among the older interceptor variants with radar. It is precisely the forward probe that shapes the silhouette of the aircraft, and its position differs between versions, which is why accessories are made specifically for a particular group of variants.
It pays to reverse the order of the work compared with the instructions: fit the probe absolutely last, after the decals and the final varnish. You will save yourself careful masking and will not catch on it every time you turn the model. Drill the hole before you close the fuselage up, as the part is easy to handle at that moment. Degrease the metal surface with alcohol or acetone before painting and apply a thin coat of metal primer; otherwise the paint will rub off at the first touch. An alternative is to leave the brass bare and only darken it slightly with a blackening product.
This is an accessory for modelers. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
