Kabuki masks MiG-25PD BASIC (1:72)

This is a set of self-adhesive masking templates of thin Japanese washi paper, known as kabuki, laser-cut precisely to the shape of the cockpit frames and the other clear parts of a model of the MiG-25PD interceptor in 1:72 scale. The masks are stuck onto the clear parts and the surrounding areas, so that spraying produces a sharp transition between the frame color and the clear glazing without hand-brushed touching up. The maker is New Ware, which specializes in this kind of accessory. The BASIC variant covers the basic scope, that is above all the cockpit glazing.

Use

• Wash and degrease the parts before applying the masks so that they hold well.
• Lift the templates carefully off the sheet, lay them on the frames and press them down with a blunt point or a toothpick.
• Spray in thin coats; a heavy coat of paint creeps under the edge of the mask.
• Remove the mask shortly after the paint has flashed off, before it cures completely.

It suits modelers who want clean, straight lines on the glazing without slow masking with adhesive tape. It is suitable for less experienced builders too, because the shapes come ready-made.

The masks are an aftermarket accessory, not a kit. They do not include paints or the model.
