Moscow noble cavalry of the 16th century, the Siege of Pskov, set 1 is a set of unassembled Red Box figures in 1:72 scale for siege scenes and historical wargaming.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure set in 1:72 scale from the Red Box line devoted to 16th century cavalry. The subtitle refers to the Siege of Pskov of 1581 and 1582, that is to the close of the century. The package carries the designation set 1; set 2 with the identical subtitle is sold separately. The figures are unglued and unpainted.
Toward the end of the 16th century a hand firearm appeared with this cavalry alongside the bow and the melee weapon, but the protection of the torso remained predominantly mail or lamellar. Because each rider turned out with equipment of his own, the appearance of a unit was not uniform; armor, kaftans and head coverings differed within one group.
With a siege scene a division by height works: place some of the riders lower, some on an embankment or a road, so that the scene gets depth. Before painting, check the figures against the light; the mold parting lines are best seen precisely that way at this scale and can be sanded off with a needle file in a moment. Apply the flesh shades in two layers, a base and a lighter hint on the raised areas; more makes no sense at 1:72 scale. Do not take the metal parts in pure silver but in a metallic shade darkened with a wash, otherwise they will overpower the rest of the figure. Finally a matte varnish and seating on a base.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
