Photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the reconnaissance version Mosquito PR.XVI. An accessory to a kit for modelers who want finer detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The de Havilland Mosquito was a British twin-engine aircraft of largely wooden construction, which in the age of all-metal machines gave it low weight and exceptional speed. The PR designation belongs to the reconnaissance versions: they flew unarmed, carried photographic equipment and relied on escaping by speed and altitude before fighters could catch them. The PR.XVI version is one of them and was adapted for flight at high altitude.
The package holds photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale intended for a model of the Mosquito PR.XVI. Photo-etch allows a thickness that a plastic molding can never approach, and it is therefore used for parts that in reality take the form of sheet, strap, frame or wire. In a small scale that difference shows the most, because a plastic molding here tends to be several times thicker than the original. The extent of the set and its placement on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are held on the metal fret by small tabs. Cut them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remains of the tab with a file; with pliers you would only crush the thin metal. Make the bend along the etched groove, best in a bending tool or between two metal rulers. Use cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin so that it does not run over the surroundings. Degrease the parts before painting and go over them with a primer.
The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
