A sheet of decals in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker Print Scale, aimed at the Japanese A6M carrier fighters in the A6M2 and A6M3 versions. According to the manufacturer it is the second part of a series devoted to this type. The wet decals designation means classic water-slide decals: a thin printed film on backing paper that slides off the paper onto the model once soaked. The sheet offers markings for several particular aircraft, among them aircraft from license production by the Nakajima company as well as aircraft from Mitsubishi production.
The A6M fighter, known among modelers as the Zero, was the main carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It stood out for its exceptional range and agility, paid for with a very light structure and weak passive protection. The A6M2 version was used from the start of the fighting in the Pacific, and the later A6M3 received a more powerful engine and a modified wing. The type was designed by the Mitsubishi company, but a large part of the series production was handled under license by the Nakajima company, so aircraft from both factories met in service.
Decals belong on a smooth glossy surface, otherwise a matte haze stays under the film. Overcoat the area with a gloss varnish before application, cut the decal out as close to the printing as you can and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. Once it is settled in place, blot the excess water with a paper napkin and use a decal softener, so that the film draws down to the engraved lines and the rivets. Finally knock everything back with a matte or semi-matte varnish, which seals the decal and evens out the surface of the whole model.
This is a separate sheet of decals. The model, paints, glue and varnishes are not included in the package.
