The British brand Xtradecal has long devoted itself to printed markings for modelers, and this sheet is tied to the single-seat F-100C Super Sabre version. The exact contents of the sheet, the number of schemes worked up and the particular units are given on the packaging and in the instructions supplied with the sheet.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was the first American production fighter able to sustain supersonic speed in straight and level flight. The F-100C version was single-seat and, against the initial A version, received a strengthened wing with hardpoints and equipment for air-to-air refueling. A day fighter at the outset thus became chiefly a carrier of armament for strikes on ground targets. The characteristic marks of the type are the oval air intake in the nose, the swept wing and the low-set horizontal tail.
The base is the foundation of success. A decal needs a smooth glossy surface, otherwise air is closed in under the carrier film and a matte silvered veil forms around the print. Lay a thin coat of gloss varnish over the finished paintwork first, therefore, let it cure fully and only then work with the decals. Silver and metal surfaces, of which the Super Sabre has many, are the most sensitive in this respect. Once the markings are dry, unify the whole model with a matte or satin varnish to suit the look you want.
