About product

Otter Light Reconnaissance Car 1:72 (IBG Models)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Canadian Otter light reconnaissance armored car in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models. It is a new mold; besides the plastic parts the package contains a photo-etched fret and a decal sheet with several marking options, so you get a detailed model of a small armored car straight from the box.

The real subject

The Otter Light Reconnaissance Car was a light armored car built in the Second World War by the Canadian division of General Motors for the British and Allied forces. It was based on the chassis of the Canadian CMP Chevrolet C15 truck and served for reconnaissance and escort duties. Over seventeen hundred were built; Commonwealth units and Polish units fighting on the Western Front also used it.

Building and painting tips

Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies; finish the interior and the running gear before you close the hull. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting and apply the paints with an airbrush. You can bring the olive green British and Canadian scheme to life with a wash in the recesses and dust pigments; a small model benefits from fine accentuation of the rivets and details.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Allied reconnaissance vehicles in 1:72 scale
  • Fans of Canadian CMP vehicles of the Second World War
  • Builders of Western Front dioramas, including Polish units
  • Modelers who will appreciate new tooling with photo-etch in the package

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
