A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the American P-47D-20 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was an American single-seat fighter and one of the heaviest machines in its class in the Second World War. Its rugged structure and wide landing gear track made it a sought-after machine for attacks on ground targets, where its ability to take a hit and come home also counted. The D-20 production block still belongs to the machines with the razorback spine carried back behind the cockpit; the bubble canopy came only with later series.
In 1:72 scale most of the detail is at the limit of what can be made in plastic. Etched metal is only tenths of a millimeter thick, so thin features still look thin once they are glued on and painted. Which parts the fret carries and where they belong is shown in the manufacturer's instructions; the name of the set does not spell the extent out.
Leave the fret whole until you actually need a part, or the small pieces will go missing. Cut with a sharp blade on a hard mat and hold the part along its whole length while bending. It is bonded with a minute amount of super glue; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and lay down a coat of primer.
The model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
