The SPACE cockpit set for the P-51D-15 Mustang in 1:72 brings raised interior detail of a late block of the famous escort fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
In this set Eduard has prepared a relief instrument panel and the related small items of the interior for a later production block of the Mustang. Thanks to the pre-finished color rendering it is enough to settle the parts carefully - the result is a cockpit that stands up to a close look even in 1:72 scale.
The D-15 production block followed on from the success of the P-51D version and differed from the early examples in gradually introduced modifications to the airframe and the equipment. With the endurance to escort raids to the most distant targets, the fighter remained the backbone of the American fighter groups in Europe to the end of the fighting and afterwards served for a long time with air forces all over the world, from Latin America to Asia. A number of surviving examples still fly at airshows today.
Work on a finished cockpit base: colors and shadows first, then the relief parts. Use pointed tweezers and a new blade for handling, and blot excess moisture away with a paper tissue. It pays to work over a light surface, on which small dropped parts are easy to find again. The work does not end when the cockpit is closed - give the canopy a thorough polish so that the detail inside comes into its own.
