Pacific Patrol Heavies in 1:72 scale is a decal sheet from DK Decals for the American heavy patrol machines B-17E, B-24D and PB4Y-1 fitted with Yagi antennas.

This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The package holds no plastic parts and not the antennas themselves - the decals serve to mark models that you build separately. The subject of the sheet is the American heavy machines used in the Pacific for long-range patrol flights: the B-17E, the B-24D and the naval PB4Y-1, that is machines with Yagi antennas. The number of schemes and the particular units are given in the instructions supplied with the sheet.
In the Pacific the heavy four-engine bombers were used not only to drop bombs but, to a large extent, for long-range reconnaissance over the open sea. The B-17E was an early version of the Flying Fortress with a large vertical tail, the B-24D an early production version of the Liberator with great range, and the PB4Y-1 the naval equivalent of the Liberator operated by the US Navy. A striking feature of the patrol machines were the Yagi array antennas projecting from the sides of the fuselage and from under the wing - they belonged to the first airborne radars for searching out vessels and shipping targets and are today an instantly recognizable mark of these aircraft.
Apply the decals onto a gloss base only. On matte clear, air is left beneath the decal and silvering appears, which can then be removed only by taking the decal off. The order is therefore: paint, gloss clear, decals, decal softener and finally matte or semi-matte clear over the whole model. The Yagi antennas are not part of the sheet, because they are three-dimensional parts - either you find them in the kit, or you make them from thin wire or obtain them as a photo-etched accessory. Take care when settling the decals around them, so that no bubbles form underneath.
