1:72 Paint mask Me 262A-1a is a set of paint masks for the model of the first jet fighter put into production service, in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking set, not a kit. It serves to cover the glazing and the areas that are not to receive paint while spraying. The cockpit of the Me 262 has a great many small frames and in a smaller scale tracing them by hand tends to be lengthy, so a ready-made cut considerably raises the chance of a nice result at the first attempt.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet fighter to reach production and combat service. Under its swept wings it carried a pair of jet engines in separate nacelles, and the A-1a rendition corresponded to the fighter role. It outpaced the propeller machines of the day, but it was plagued by the short life of its engines and by a shortage of fuel.
Degrease the glazed areas and lay the shapes with tweezers. The frames of the Me 262 are narrow, so work slowly and do not hurry when pressing the corners down. Choose thin paint and apply it from above, not at an angle. The mottled camouflage is best sprayed once the mask is off, so that the pattern runs across the whole fuselage without a visible break. The engine nacelles deserve masking of their own, as their shade often differs from the rest of the airframe.
