A sheet of decals in 1:72 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal, aimed at the fighter version of the Tornado under the designation F.3 in the service of the Royal Air Force. It offers anniversary, ceremonial markings recalling the jubilee of a squadron. The product is an accessory to a finished model and by itself contains no plastic parts.
The Tornado F.3 was the fighter and interceptor version of the European multirole aircraft with a wing of variable sweep. Unlike the strike variant the F.3 had a lengthened nose for the radar and was aimed at the long-range defense of airspace, at patrolling over the sea and at escort. In the service of the Royal Air Force it served from the 1980s, and a number of squadrons used the anniversary of their existence for a temporary ceremonial finish on one machine.
Prepare the model so that the area under a decal is smooth and glossy, otherwise a matte edge will arise around the film. Cut the individual elements out close to the printing; with long stripes on the fuselage think the order out in advance and start from the most conspicuous piece, to which you will then align the rest. Soak briefly and let the decal rest for a while on a paper base; transferring it at the moment when it slides on the backing paper by itself is the surest way. The wing of variable sweep and the broken-up transitions of the fuselage call for softener, so that the film follows the shape without folds. Once dry, seal the decals with clear coat and only then continue with the weathering, as otherwise the edges of the film would lift during dry wiping.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model, paints and decal softener are not included in the package.
