A plastic kit of the German Panzer IV medium tank in the Ausf. E version in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby. It is an early Panzer IV with the short gun, and its decal sheet offers markings tied to the opening period of the war. According to the manufacturer the set contains small photo-etched parts for extra detail besides the plastic.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV was the backbone of the German armored forces throughout the Second World War and the only German tank built practically without a break from beginning to end. The early versions including the Ausf. E carried the short 7.5 cm gun intended mainly for firing at soft targets and infantry, that is for support; only the later variants received the long anti-tank gun. The Ausf. E brought partial improvements to the armor and the structure compared with the preceding batches.
Assemble and paint the running gear with the wheels and the track links before you cover them with the fenders. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. For the early period a uniform gray base (Panzergrau) sprayed with an airbrush works well, followed by edge highlighting, washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud on the running gear. Small scuffed edges can be suggested with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
