1:72 RAF 2014 Update is a supplementary Xtradecal decal sheet with contemporary Royal Air Force markings. It is a standalone decal sheet for finished painted models, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A supplementary sheet of decals in 1:72 scale from the British brand Xtradecal, put together as an update of Royal Air Force markings to the year given in the name. It is not a kit but a printed sheet meant to supplement or replace the markings on models of contemporary equipment. Which items the sheet contains and which types it is intended for is given on the packaging and in the instructions supplied. Because it is an update sheet, we recommend comparing the contents before buying with what you need for your model.
The markings of contemporary machines differ from those of earlier periods chiefly in their suppressed visibility. The national insignia tend to be in subdued shades or merely in low contrast against the paint, the serial numbers and unit markings are smaller and some of the lettering has a purely operational and safety function. Alongside them, however, markedly colorful markings used on special occasions also appear. Update sheets follow this development and add the markings that did not yet exist when the kits were released.
The small technical lettering gives the most work. Place it after the large markings, when it is clear how much room is left, and work with a magnifying glass and pointed tweezers with which you touch only the paper backing. Let a miniature decal rest on the backing longer, because an over-soaked one will roll up as it settles. Put a drop of water on the surface where the lettering is to go, slide the decal into it and only then move it into place. Blot the rest of the water away with the corner of a paper tissue, not by wiping.
The package contains the decal sheet only. The kit, paints and varnishes are not part of it.
