The Kits-World 1:72 decal sheet of RAF code letters 24 inches high offers separate identification letters and numerals for British aircraft in the smaller of the usual formats.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet contains individual code letters and numerals of the Royal Air Force whose height corresponds to 24 inches on the real aircraft, converted into 1:72 scale. These are not finished markings of one machine, but a construction set of characters. From them a modeler puts together exactly the combination required, which anyone will appreciate who builds a particular aircraft from a photograph and has found no decals for it in the box.
Code letters on the fuselage of British aircraft distinguished the unit and the individual machine. The height of the characters was not uniform throughout and differed according to the type of aircraft and the free space on the fuselage as well, which is why several size variants are made. The 24-inch format is the smaller of those commonly offered and suits places where the area of the fuselage is broken up or short. Check the choice of size against the references for the particular machine.
The key is the trimming of the carrier film. Cut each character out with a sharp scalpel or scissors as close to the printing as possible, since the less transparent film is left, the less its glossy outline will be apparent once dry. With letters that have an inner opening, such as O or A, it is not necessary to cut the film out inside, but the edge has to be clean without fraying. Cut on a mat and always with a fresh blade, as a blunt blade will tear the film.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
