The tiger coat of the carrier-borne Rafale M machine number 44 of Flottille 11F, as it appeared at the meet of tiger squadrons in 2018. A run of three hundred sheets.
Responsibility details are not available.
The meet of tiger squadrons is among the most closely followed events of European military aviation, and in 2018 the naval squadron Flottille 11F turned out for it a Rafale M with the sequence number 44 and the nickname Celtix Tiger. The striped graphics covered the fin, the spine and a large part of the sides, and this sheet breaks them down into individual pieces. The maker issued it in a limited run of three hundred pieces.
The Rafale is 15.27 m long and 10.80 m in span. In 1:72 that comes out at 21.2 cm and 15.0 cm, that is a rectangle the size of a sheet of A5 laid on its side. The plan view is noticeably wider than with the older delta-winged machines, because the canard surfaces by the cabin and the cranked leading edge of the wing take their room.
The naval M version is not the same as the land-based C. It is set apart by a longer and strengthened nose leg with a single wheel, an arrester hook under the tail and modifications of the fuselage for a catapult launch. Boxes in 1:72 therefore tend to be marked with the letter M directly; on some you will find parts for both forms on one sprue. Because the artwork runs across the rounded sides, you will appreciate a mold with clean joins and fine surface detail.
Lay extensive areas on a thoroughly wet surface and move them with a brush, never with the fingers. Anyone who lets a soaked piece rest for a moment on glass will better judge the moment when the film releases from the paper by itself.
