An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank in the s ekranami version, that is with add-on armor plates, in 1:72 scale from the Trumpeter brand. The set holds parts in gray plastic, one-piece vinyl (rubber) tracks and a decal sheet for several marking options. The model puts the emphasis on the shape of the hull, the turret and the running gear, and it builds like a classic small-scale kit.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank from the start of the Second World War, typical for its very thick armor; in 1941 it stood up to most German anti-tank weapons of the day. The s ekranami version carried bolted-on add-on armor plates on the turret and the hull, which raised that resistance further. The vehicle was armed with a gun of 76 mm caliber and powered by a diesel engine; at the price of high weight it offered exceptional protection for the crew.
With armored vehicles of this class it pays to assemble and paint the running gear (wheels, rollers, tracks) before you close the hull. The vinyl tracks can be joined with cyanoacrylate glue. We recommend applying a primer first, then the base green shade with an airbrush and finally the weathering: darker washes into the recesses and the rivets and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear. Pick out the edges of the add-on plates lightly with a dry rub of a lighter color.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
