A photo-etched accessory set in 1:72 scale for a model of the Douglas SBD Dauntless carrier-based dive bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was a carrier-based dive bomber of the US Navy and it wrote itself into history above all at the Battle of Midway, where its crews hit the Japanese aircraft carriers. The most conspicuous feature of the machine was the perforated dive brakes on the trailing edge of the wing. The holes in them reduced the buffeting of the tail surfaces during a steep descent and let the pilot hold the machine in a precisely aimed attack. The Dauntless served throughout the war and had a reputation as a reliable and tough aircraft.
A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for finishing a model of the SBD Dauntless. Thin metal sheet makes it possible to produce shapes that would come out too thick in plastic. The list of parts and the kit the set is prepared for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
In 1:72 scale the etched parts really are tiny, so work on a light surface and over a box, so that a lost part can be found. Cut them out with a sharp blade rather than breaking them off. Make a bend over the edge of a ruler along the whole length at once. They are glued with super glue in tiny drops, moved with the tip of a toothpick. Degrease the metal before painting and back it with a base coat, or the finish will rub off during handling.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
