A plastic kit of the Sherman IIC medium tank in the small 1:72 scale from the UM brand. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is built with the classic technique from injection-molded plastic. The 1:72 scale takes up little space for armored equipment and combines well with aircraft and diorama elements in the same scale.
The designation Sherman IIC belongs to the British system of nomenclature for American medium tanks of the Sherman family. The numeral in the designation distinguishes the basic version of the vehicle, while the suffix C designates a vehicle fitted with the British 17-pounder gun. Vehicles with this gun had a reworked turret with a counterweight and a modified stowage of equipment because of the longer and heavier weapon; against a standard Sherman the silhouette is changed above all by the long barrel with a muzzle brake. They were produced in considerably smaller numbers than the ordinary versions.
In 1:72 scale the parts are small, so cut them from the sprue with nippers and finish the cut with a scalpel, not by twisting. Glue with thin extra-fine cement for plastic applied by capillary action into the joint — it is cleaner and does not flood the fine engraving. Assemble and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull up, otherwise you can no longer get at them. Spray the surface with primer and only then with the base color; an airbrush will help with the smooth shading of large surfaces. Build the weathering in layers: a dark wash in the recesses and around the rivets, lightened edges with a dry brush and finally pigments for mud and dust effects on the treads, the fenders and the underside of the hull. The longer barrel is the most vulnerable part — glue it on right at the very end.
