1:72 Sherman VC Firefly - Ordnance QF 17pdr (76.2 mm) gun barrel is a turned metal barrel that replaces the plastic part on a model of the British Firefly.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement metal part for a 1:72 model of the British Sherman VC. It takes the place of the plastic barrel, which on a gun this slender and this long tends to be bowed or marked by the mold parting line. According to the name, the gun is the Ordnance QF 17pdr of 76.2 mm caliber.
The Firefly was a British conversion of the American medium tank: the turret was reworked to take the 17-pounder anti-tank gun, the only Allied weapon that in 1944 reliably punched through the frontal armor of the heaviest German machines. Its recognition features were a very long barrel with a muzzle brake, a counterweight on the turret rear and a box for the radio set. Crews valued the firepower, but the huge muzzle flash and the length of the weapon also made them the first target on the battlefield.
Cut the original barrel off at its root and drill the opening out to the diameter of the pin. Bond the metal part with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and check straight away that it sits on the axis of the turret; once the glue has set, the position can no longer be adjusted. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal and will rub off as the model is handled.
This is a separate part. The tank does not come with it, and neither do glue and paints.
