A set of pre-cut masks in 1:72 for the two-seat SK-37 Viggen in the splinter camouflage scheme from Special Mask. It serves for spraying sharply bounded fields of camouflage; it is not a decal sheet and not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive, pre-cut masks in 1:72 scale for a model of the two-seat trainer version of the Swedish Saab 37 Viggen. The set is neither a kit nor a decal sheet, it is an aid for painting: it lets you spray the irregular fields of the so-called splinter scheme with a sharp edge and without the slow cutting of tape.
Sprayed camouflage has the same texture and sheen as the rest of the finish, whereas a large-area decal gives itself away at the edges and over the engraved lines and follows the shape of the fuselage less well. Cutting the many-sided fields by hand is slow and in 1:72 scale the corners easily fail to meet. A precisely cut mask, by contrast, holds the geometry of the scheme identically on both halves of the airframe.
The underlying coat has to be perfectly cured, otherwise it will tear off when the mask is removed. Transfer the pieces one at a time, press the edges down thoroughly with a toothpick or a wooden stick and spray the paint straight down and in thin coats, so that it does not creep under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, slowly and at a sharp angle back over itself. It is worth keeping the rest of the sheet in a closed bag away from dust, and the small offcuts come in handy for touch-ups.
The package contains masks only. The model, the paints, the glue and any other accessories are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
