An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet wheeled armored personnel carrier BTR-70 in its early production form, in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ACE. It is a smaller military model with the characteristic eight-wheeled hull. The package contains plastic parts, decals and instructions, the exact contents following the manufacturer's catalog. The model will please collectors of hardware of Soviet and East European origin.
The BTR-70 was a Soviet eight-wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier introduced in the 1970s as the successor to the BTR-60. It carried a squad of infantry, it was able to swim and it was driven by a pair of engines. Its sloped hull sides and its side armor were characteristic. The BTR-70 spread to the armies of the Warsaw Pact and to further allies, and in a number of countries it served for many years.
Use liquid cement for plastic and finish everything that will be visible before you close up the hull. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush. On Soviet hardware a basic green shade works well, complemented by a wash in the engraved lines and by pigments for mud effects on the wheels and the wheel wells. Glue the small parts carefully so that you keep the fine detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
