The Eduard 1:72 Stirling Mk.III wings bomb bays photo-etched set answers the bomb spaces in the inner sections of the wings of the British four-engine bomber. It is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model.

A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the British Short Stirling Mk.III heavy bomber in 1:72 scale. According to the name the set concerns the bomb spaces in the inner sections of the wings, a structural solution that set the Stirling apart from most bombers of its day and that kits usually show only in outline. Etched metal adds internal structure, ribs and hinges here, so the model can be built with the spaces open. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a kit you already own. The bomb bay in the fuselage is answered on the same machine by a separate set, as are the exterior and the interior.
The Short Stirling was the first four-engine heavy bomber in service with the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. Besides the long bomb bay in the fuselage it also had bomb spaces in the inner sections of the wings between the fuselage and the engine nacelles. The Mk.III version received more powerful Bristol Hercules radial engines and reworked defensive turrets. Because of its limited service ceiling the type moved gradually to transport, towing and special duties, in which it served until the end of the war.
The insides of the wings have to be finished before the upper and lower wing halves are glued together. Dry-fit the assembly first and only then glue it. Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool; bend the small frames one at a time, so that they do not deform. Glue with cyanoacrylate, and on the larger assemblies epoxy with a longer setting time helps. Degrease the metal before painting and spray a primer. Paint and weather the inner surfaces before the wing is closed; a wash will bring out the ribbing and a dry brush will pull the edges out. Watch that the etched parts stuck in place do not increase the thickness of the joint, because the wing would then not close.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
