A plastic model of the self-propelled gun Sturmgeschütz 40 Ausf.F in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer UM. It is a classic injection-molded kit meant to be glued and painted. The compact 1:72 scale makes it a suitable addition to a collection of armored equipment as well as a practical basis for a diorama from the period of the Second World War.
The Sturmgeschütz was a German self-propelled assault gun of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. The Ausf.F version of 1942 was the first to receive the long 75 mm gun barrel, thanks to which what had originally been a means of supporting infantry became an effective machine against the enemy's armored equipment too. Its characteristic feature is a low silhouette with no rotating turret: the weapon is housed in a fixed superstructure, which gave the machine a low height, simpler production and easy concealment in the field.
Prepare and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull; once glued, access to the chassis is limited. For the small parts in 1:72 scale, thin cement for plastic applied with a fine brush and tweezers suit well. Spray the base coloring with an airbrush over a primer and tune the details in with a brush. The look is markedly lifted by weathering: a dark wash in the recesses and seams, pigments for dust and mud on the chassis and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
