An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun with the service designation Sd.Kfz.167 in 1:72 scale. The model is meant to be glued and painted. The particular number of parts, the type of tracks and the marking schemes offered are given in the instructions supplied with the kit.
The Sturmgeschütz IV was a tracked fighting vehicle without a rotating turret, which came about by joining the superstructure of an assault gun to the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. The main weapon, of 75 mm caliber, was mounted directly in the front wall of a low casemate, which gave the vehicle a small silhouette and a simpler design than a turreted tank. The vehicle was built in the closing part of the Second World War and was committed both to direct fire support and to destroying armored targets.
On military vehicles in 1:72, finish the running gear first and only then close the hull up, because the road wheels cannot be reached later. Fit the tracks and let them dry in a shape that matches the sag of the upper run. Spray the model with a base color from an airbrush in thin coats, so that the molded detail stays legible. A dark wash into the recesses and a dry brush on the edges work well for contrast. Build up dust and mud on the suspension with pigments or very thin paint, working from the bottom up so that they look settled. Mask the clear periscopes and clear-coat them at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
