An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet self-propelled gun (tank destroyer) SU-100 in 1:72 scale from Zvezda. The model is designed as snap-fit: the parts click together, so you can assemble the basic structure even without glue. All the same, we recommend running cement for plastic into the joints for strength and a clean look. A decal sheet is included; the exact number of parts and schemes is given in the instructions in the box.
The SU-100 was a Soviet self-propelled gun of the end of the Second World War, built on the proven chassis of the T-34 tank. In a low enclosed casemate it carried a powerful 100 mm gun that could destroy even heavy German tanks at long range. It entered the fighting in 1944 and, thanks to its reliability and firepower, remained in service with a number of armies for decades after the war. Its forward-projecting, markedly sloped casemate front plate is characteristic.
Snap-fit assembly is quick and suits less experienced modelers as well. Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close up the tub. Apply the base Soviet green with an airbrush over a primer and lighten the panels slightly. A dark wash in the recesses brings out the rivets and detail, and dust and mud pigments on the tracks give the machine realistic weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
