Markings built around one particular machine in two periods are an interesting modeling opportunity: the same airframe, a different coat. Which of the finishes you build is up to you, or you can get two models and display them side by side.
The order of paint and decals on bold schemes
With colorful finishes part of the motif is usually sprayed and part applied as a decal. Keep to the rule that spraying always comes before the decals. Stick masks on only over fully cured paint and peel them off slowly, at a shallow angle. Only then come the gloss varnish and the markings.
Once they are dry, varnish over the decals so the weathering does not damage them. Choose the final degree of sheen according to how the machine looked in the photograph you are building from: ceremonially finished aircraft tend to be glossier than ordinary service examples.
The contents of the package are decals. The model, the masks, the paints and the varnishes are not part of it.
