This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard adds fine metal detail to the plastic kit of the Tornado GR.Mk.1 strike aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces and refines selected plastic parts of the kit. It typically covers interior and exterior features - the instrument panel, seat belts, levers and small covers - etched into thin metal of a kind injection-molded plastic cannot capture.
The Panavia Tornado GR.Mk.1 is a European two-seat strike aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, developed jointly by Great Britain, Germany and Italy. The GR strike version was meant for low-level runs and accurate attacks on ground targets in any weather. The swing wing allowed fast flight close to the ground as well as steady behavior on takeoff and landing.
The photo-etched parts are cut from the fret, bent along the pre-etched lines and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); on larger areas a two-part epoxy glue helps. Tweezers, a photo-etch bending tool and patience are recommended - the set is meant for more experienced modelers.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
