A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the European combat aircraft Panavia Tornado IDS / GR.Mk.1 in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and not a model — it is an accessory that makes painting the framing of the glazing and other small areas cleanly easier. The masks stick straight onto the parts, so the glazing frames get sharp straight edges without laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this type usually also include circular masks for the wheel discs, to separate tire from rim cleanly.
The Panavia Tornado IDS was a European two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing (a swing wing), developed jointly by Germany, Great Britain and Italy. The British GR.Mk.1 version specialized in low-level strikes against ground targets and served with the RAF from the 1980s.
Lift the mask carefully off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and place it on a dry, degreased glazing surface. Press the edges down thoroughly so paint cannot flow under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat has dried completely. On sharply curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
