A plastic kit of the Japanese medium tank Type 89 in the version designated KOU in 1:72 scale. For armored vehicles, 1:72 is the scale for collectors who want a whole unit in one display case and have no room at home for large models.
The Type 89 was among the first Japanese tanks built in series. It appeared at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s and carried a short 57 millimeter gun supplemented by machine guns, that is armament meant for infantry support rather than for fighting other tanks. It was deployed in China and in the opening phase of the fighting in the Pacific, where it already lagged behind Allied equipment. The designation KOU corresponds to the first letter of the Japanese series, roughly our A, and sets this version apart from the later one, which differed from it in details.
It will be appreciated by anyone interested in Japanese interwar equipment and by builders who collect armored vehicles in 1:72. Thanks to the unusual, angular shape of its hull it is a rewarding model for a display case among the more usual European and American machines.
The kit is supplied, unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
